Web Museum

Welcome to the Royfuss Web Museum! I am a hobbyist web designer. Royfuss is my primary site. It has been around since 2005, and I have adapted it with the times. I have also created other websites, as well as developed some concepts which have never seen the light of day. “Royfuss Museum” preserves the history of my web development journey. I have preserved the look of my projects here, while updating the code to adhere to modern web standards. I have not preserved all of my work, but here is what I currently have for you to view:

Here is a little more information about me. I taught myself HTML in middle school; I think around 2002 or 2003. I liked Neopets. Neopets allowed me to create a custom page for my pets. I was able to use HTML and have pretty much free rain on the page. My brother gave me a few pointers like viewing a webpage’s source. I looked at other people’s pages and copied their code. Many times, I would reverse engineer the code to tweak a few things on the page. I fell in love with HTML.

In 2005, I took a high school web design class. I create a couple of concepts, which are showcased in the museum. I decided to create Monkey HTML to teach myself about all the tags available to me at the time. At this point, I felt ready to create an entire website.

I found a free hosting service and created a site in late 2005. It gave a free custom subdomain, as well as a small amount of space and bandwidth. It also required me to have an ad on the page. The host shut down without notice a few months later.

When the free hosting service shut down, my brother and I teamed up and rented a server through a webhost. We shared the space. For a domain I decided to go with a nickname one of my friends gave me: royfuss. I had grand designs for www.royfuss.com. It would be a blog, a forum, and a place to share cool things. It would go through several redesigns over the next few years and evolve into what it is today: a blog and a portal. We moved to a different host, and I branched out from him to rent my own server.

Throughout those years, I tinkered with concepts. I worked on a review website, fan sites, class projects, and more. I hope you will enjoy seeing some of those concepts here at the Royfuss Museum!
