Last year, I set a goal for myself. I needed to update my blog at least once a month in 2022. It looks like I will achieve the goal. I have at least four more posts I want to publish. One of them is book related, two of them are game reviews, and the last one covers Nintendo games from their first generation console. I cannot guarantee I will get all four posts published, but I am feeling good about it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Right now, I am at my aunt and uncle’s house for Thanksgiving (happy Thanksgiving!). I celebrated with my parents, aunt and uncle, and three of their friends. It was a good time filled with delicious food and cards. The gals played Smear, while the guys either watched football or read books; I made progress in the book You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost)<\/em>. We also played Hand and Foot, which is a card game staple in my family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was going to see a lot of my family on Saturday. My brother’s family will be here, but my cousins won’t be able to make it. My aunt and uncle’s daughters have RSV circulating around their families. I was looking forward to seeing them, but they need to focus on getting better. So, Saturday will be another quiet celebration… unless my nephew livens things up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today is a quiet day. I might see my brother and his family today, and maybe another one of my cousins. However, my uncle is working this morning, and my mom and aunt decided to head into town and do some shopping. My dad is snoring away on the couch, so I thought it would be a perfect time publish a personal update post instead of working on the other four posts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have eluded to my Royfuss Games<\/a> website, but I haven’t formally introduced it. I completely overhauled my game databases, and consolidated them into one database. It keeps track my inventory of games, as well as my play sessions and times. I have Python scripts that processes the data from the database and creates the pages for Royfuss Games. It is a handy front end for me to quickly search for specific games. I include purchase information and session data on the same page. It is a lot of work maintaining the cover art and screenshots for the games, but I think it adds to the presentation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I think it is really cool, and I am trying to get it to place to replace my Game Inventory website. However, I need to decide how to handle the charts. I’ll probably only update the charts once a year, and I need to figure out how to present the data and what data I actually care about presenting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also would like to add more sort and filter options, with a summary of the data. For example, if you filter by PlayStation 4 games, it would display how many games I own for PS4. Maybe some additional data. I need to just figure out what I want, and get it done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new year is right around the corner. Which means “Games of 2022” will drop in a little over a month. I am excited to see the new database and my Python scripts in action when compiling my gaming data for the year. Alas, I have to wait until I finish up two more games before I can start. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year is going to be a big one. Over 25 games. I try to write up some notes after I finish a game, so I do not have to scramble to remember things at the end of the year. Some of my notes are pages long, which is a strong indication I need to write up a separate review for the game. If I have a full review written up, then I can just link to that when I mention the game in “Games of 2022.” For some reason, I feel like adding screenshots to full reviews, which is a ton of work. I swear, I spent more time on screenshots for my Deception IV<\/em> review<\/a> than I did writing it. Okay, that might be a slight exaggeration, but I spent an extra day on screenshots. I suppose I don’t need to do screenshots for full reviews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyways, I gotta run. My brother is bringing my nephew up to visit my cousin, so I am going to check that out as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
