Coming Back

I hope you had a merry Christmas, happy holidays, and a happy New Year. We had Christmas early with my grandma (mom’s side), aunt (also mom’s side) and uncle. We did something different this year. We drew names for gifts and limited our presents to books. I got three of the Dune books and three of the Mistborn books. My brother gave me another book, Three Dangerous Men. I am looking forward to reading all of them. My dad gave me some coins that my grandma, his mom, had passed down to him. As always, Santa brought me pajamas.

Actual Christmas was quiet with my aunt and uncle (on my dad’s side) and one of my cousin’s family. A few other cousins were going to be there, but they had Covid and work-related things. We just played cards and relaxed. I worked on “Games of 2021” a little bit. I, also, read a lot. It was nice.

I got to see my grandma again on the way back home. We started to head back early due to the weather. The roads were not great, but we made it back safely.

The last time we spoke I was working on a couple of projects. I got “Games of 2021” out the door. I think that is the earliest I have gotten one published. I am proud of it. I decided not to split it up into multiple parts even though it is a little bit of a long read. I updated the charts in the appendix.

I am making a lot of progress archiving my old Blogspot site. I am done with over 200 posts. Once done, the old content will be hosted on this webserver with a fresh coat of paint.

This is what one of my posts looked like before I archived it:

Awful and unreadable, right? This is what the same post looks like after:

Still awful, but it is easier to read. Teenager me did not see the usefulness of paragraphs, so he skipped them. I am doing this to every post; it takes some time, but I think it is worth it.

Originally, I wanted to curate the posts by only archiving some of the more interesting ones. However, I decided just to archive all of them. Other than adding paragraph breaks and some minor formatting changes, I am not editing them. Younger me did not care about grammar or spelling, but I improved as a writer. Archiving my progression and memories are important to me.

The showcase project is taking a backseat for now. Instead, I am inventorying every one of my video games. This includes games I have on Steam, Origin, Ubisoft Connect, Epic Games, Battle.net, Amazon Games, Windows Store, random CD/DVDs, PlayStation consoles, Nintendo consoles, Xbox consoles, and whatever else. I have bought so many games, I do not even know what I own anymore. I am trying to fill my database with the game, where I bought it, when I bought it, how much it cost, and its game launcher. I do not necessarily need to everything, but it would be nice.

I am at almost 250 games inventoried and I am not done with the PC yet! I do not know exactly what I will do with the information, but I will probably share it here.

I just wanted to check-in and wish you a happy New Year.

Bye.
