We are nearing the end of another year. For some reason many people look backwards this time of year. I am one of them. I look back at the previous year. I also look back even further. It takes a while to look back across 33 years on this Earth. It’s interesting.
As I mentioned in November, I caught the web design bug again. I decided not to redesign the WordPress site, but I wanted to design something. I have been working on multiple projects.
I redid the theme for my pre-WordPress archives. It now matches closer to the WordPress look and feel. Hopefully it is easier to read, and less jarring. While there, I removed some dead links. I also fixed the Game to the Video posts. A lot of the images are longer than the text paragraphs, so they got misaligned. I was able to fix it with a little bit of CSS magic.
I am working on a showcase project. I know; I am known for promising new websites and never delivering. I think I will finish this one, but it is being a lot more work than I intended. I will share more details as it nears completion.
Another project is archiving an old Blogspot blog. I want to port it over to royfuss.com much like my pre-WordPress archives. I had it in middle school and high school. I have had to read a lot of those posts, and its rough. I have mentioned manually bringing it over in the past. Now, I wrote a Python script that grabs the post titles, body text, and metadata, and it works great. However, I would like to cater the content, as well as make it easier to read. Turns out younger me hated paragraphs. Even with the script it is a lot of work. I used to blog every day, and, sometimes, multiple times in one day. It is a lot of posts.
Games of 2021 is right around the corner. This will become my priority as we get closer to the new year. Yes, I know it’s close now. It is turning into a very big addition to the series. It might be too big. I will finish it up and determine if it needs to be two or three posts. I do not want to break it up, but I also do not want a large abomination. I have a lot of games this year and I am having trouble keeping to my “up to three paragraphs per game” rule.
My nephew turned two years old last week. The little guy is a bundle of joy. I needed a dose of him this past week. Family was in town to celebrate, and I was not feeling any holiday cheer this year. In fact, I was dreading the Birthdays and Christmas. I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed lately. My nephew helped me find a bit of perspective. I won’t see him at Christmas, but my demeanor will be a bit more jovial.
Apologies for a bit of a random post. Have a merry Christmas, and a happy New Year.
