Where’d The Summer Go? Oh, It’s Still Here

A lot has been happening, and I have not gotten a chance to write any of it down. I have a few longer pieces of writing I need to get written, but I need to find time. At the same time, I need to do a post before August is over. So, here is a quick update on what I have been doing.

I have been pouring a ton of time into redoing my video game database. It has evolved over the years, and I actually overhauled it in 2021. There were things missing, and I ended up creating a second database. One database contained my game inventory, while the other handled my play data. Having two databases was not working out for me, and I decided to merge them. Part of the project is to have a website front end to it. Check out some screenshots of the website.

It has my video game inventory, including how much I paid for the game, what platforms I own it on, etc. It also combines my play data, like last time I played, and my play sessions. I think it will be cool to have that information out there. I built it because I was not happy with the services provided by other websites. I will share some commentary when it is ready, hopefully, next month.

As you can see from my Exophase badge, I have been playing some NES games. I do not particularly like games from that era, but I do find them interesting. After replaying a few games, I have some thoughts about the original Nintendo console, but I have not had time to hammer them out on the screen.

Also from my Exophase badge, you can see I played a PlayStation 5 game. I got one! The Horizon Forbidden West bundle is still available on PlayStation Direct for US consumers, if you want one. I have played Astro’s Playroom, and I am really liking the DualSense controller. The adaptive triggers add a layer of immersion, and the haptic feedback feels good. The speaker on the controller is very nice sounding compared to the ones in the Wii controller and the DualShock 4 controller. I will have more thoughts on the PS5 as I play other games.

Those are the big things. I want to get more writings published, but my September is looking busy. I have been putting off designing my one-shot tabletop campaign in October, and I plan on getting things settled in September.

I gotta go. I’m hitting up trivia at the brewery with my brother. Talk to you next month!
