Royfuss Games Grand Opening

Welcome to the official unveiling of Royfuss Games! I have only been talking about it since August. I finally got everything tested and finalized. I am really proud of it, and I look forward to keeping it updated.

What is Royfuss Games? It’s a public front end for my private games database. It replaces my Games Inventory website. It also contains game data, like purchase information, and play information. There is a lot of neat data on the website, so check it out.

I spent a lot of time on the graphics. Downloading covers, and cropping and resizing them takes a lot of work. Luckily, I had scripts to help me out with the bulk of it. However, I want each game to have a cool screenshot on the “Game Card” background. I want to use my own screenshots, so it is a very manual process for finding and editing them. I am very proud to say that I have screenshots for most of the games I have played; backlogged games do not have screenshots, since I haven’t taken any.

Since the data is stored locally, I rely on scripts to update the website. However, there are still bits I have to do manually, like inputting new games, play session information, etc. into the database. I have been updating the website once or twice a month; usually when I finish a game, and start a new one. The “Data” section of the site will be updated less frequently. Since most of the data is annual, I plan on updating it once a year; either at the start or at the end, depending on time. The charts are the biggest time-sink, since I have to work with the data in Excel.

If you want more information on the site, view the About page. I got into detail on each of the main pages, as well as some of the technical stuff behind the scenes.

I have a quick update about other things. I have all of the data for “Games of 2022” compiled and formatted. I have also completed my first draft writing for all the games. On top of all that, the screenshots are all finalized, with the exception of one game; I cannot decide between two screenshots for a specific game. It is a huge list year, so prepare yourself. As always, I hope to have it published at the beginning of January.

Have fun browsing Royfuss Games!
